FOOD AND FESTIVALS IN BRISBANE...
With Good Food month almost here, we’ve looked at just how many wonderful festivals there are in Brisbane celebrating one of life’s great pleasures; the art of food and drinks! Here is just a few to give you some food for thought on when you should be visiting Brisbane next.
Good Food Month

We’ll start with the big one, the month long one, Good Food Month. This is a traveling event that takes place in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane each year with 2018 marking the event’s 10th birthday. Every event is unique with local chefs, restaurants and businesses showcasing new trends, foods, and experiences for the thousands of people who attend. Easily the favourite part of the month is when the Night Noodle Markets are on. In Brisbane, they take place at the South Bank forecourt and the steaming piles of noodles keep families and friends warm on the cooler July nights. You can see more about some of the events this year on our What's On pages.

Oktoberfest

Held over two big weekends in October, the Brisbane Showgrounds transforms into a mass chorus of singing, eating, drinking and revelry for the thousands who attend wearing their best traditional German outfits. Touted to be the southern hemispheres largest, this well-loved festival brings the classic pretzels, bratwursts and pork knuckles for the hungry revellers. If you’re going to go, make the most of it and get yourself dressed up, otherwise you’ll be the one who sticks out! See more.

Good Food & Wine Show

It’s not hard to guess what this is about, the best of the best pack the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention centre in late October bringing samples from around the country for visitors to try. This event is particularly great at highlighting the wonderful range of wine varietals that can be grown in Australia and many a good drop can be found here. Even if you’re not a connoisseur, you’ll find something that you enjoy, even better if you’re the adventurous type. See More.

Some of the Smaller Ones

Sure, there are a few big ones, but it’s the smaller more niche ones that could get your heart racing, literally. Take for example the Briz-Chilli fest, that’s a hot date on the calendar, attendance at that one is not for the faint hearted. There’s also the Ice Cream festival, the Indie Spirits festival, and the Brisbane BBQ Festival just to name a few more.

Whatever your flavour, Brisbane probably has it covered; we’re much more than a big country town these days.
