    Peter and the Wolf has been described as a “symphonic fairy tale for children” where the story is read by the narrator and “illustrated” by the orchestra.  The piece was first debuted at a children’s concert at the Moscow Conservatory in 1936 and it has become not only Prokofiev’s most frequently performed work but one of the most frequently performed works in the entire classical repertoire..
